Learn More

Who am I?

I grew up in Wyoming.
I used to ride around in a submarine.
Now I manage fabrication projects and tinker with computers.

Why did I make this website?

Boredom, mostly, but I also wanted to learn a bit about how websites are created and hosted. So, I spun up a server in my basement and this is the result. Now I have a place to tell people a bit about myself and host my résumé.

What I do for work

I’m a project manager.
Officially, my job is to plan, execute, and close projects. But really? I oversee the process that turns our customers’ desires into tangible deliverables. Which is a fancy way of saying...

I conduct an orchestra and the song being played is customer satisfaction.

What I do for fun

If it’s nerdy, I’m probably into it. I code a bit, I enjoy sci-fi, I repurpose old electronics. I built the server that hosts this website in my spare time. Plus, I’m a pretty big fan of anything that involves going fast or being on water; jet skiing is my favorite pastime when the weather allows it. I also love to travel. Most of the pictures on this site are from a trip I took to the island of Maui, Hawaii.

Wait, what about the submarine?

I was born in Wyoming, and at the ripe old age of 19, I decided that I wanted to live my life anywhere but the dusty little town in which I grew up. So, I went and talked to a recruiter: “How about working on a submarine?” he asked. “Yeah, sure. Whatever. We don’t have those back home. So... Sounds great!”
I spent the next six years in the navy.

And the computers?

My first exposure to them was playing games on an old DOS machine that my grandparents had. I was hooked. I took three years of computer programming in high school, studying Visual Basic, C++, and Java. Nowadays I maintain a few Linux machines for fun. I’ve also found quite a bit of value in learning how to solve all sorts of problems with Excel.

Why project management?

After the submarine thing, I wanted to move back home to Wyoming. I found a job assembling piping at a fabrication shop. After some time in the shop, I had also assembled pumps, hydraulics systems, and even tried my hand at welding. As business grew, the need for additional project supervision became apparent. I was chosen to help the project manager and eventually began managing projects of my own.

What’s next?

I’m not sure, really. I’m always open to new opportunity. I would really like to find an outlet where I can fuse my project management skills with my passion for tech, but I can be happy doing just about anything involving planning and attention to detail.
